Facial Contouring Surgery for full face contouring, Double-jaw Surgery for Facial balance and teeth occlusion
Do not approach facial bone surgery only by looking at external improvements.

Facial Contouring Surgery and Double-jaw Surgery, which are representative surgeries related to the face shape. Both look similar in that they deal with facial bones and are sometimes confused. However, the surgical method, application target, and purpose are completely different.

Facial Contouring Surgery is a surgical procedure that smoothes and refines the contours of the face by resecting the facial ones and correcting protruding and flat areas. It can be divided into reduction malarplasty, square-jaw reduction and genioplasty.

Reduction malarplasty has the effect of reducing the size of the front cheeks and making the wide face smaller. When the side cheeks are reduced, the bumpy face line is softened and the width of the face is reduced, making it look slimmer. The square-jaw reduction, which reduces the size of the chin, can make the jaw line sharper, and the genioplasty can make a V line and correct the short chin.

Facial contouring focuses on the overall contouring of the face, but double-jaw surgery focuses on occlusion and the axis of the face.

Double-jaw surgery is a surgery that moves the occlusal surface of the teeth. Basically, it is performed when the upper jaw and the lower jaw do not match and the occlusion does not match, or when the length of the face is different and inclined. Double-jaw surgery is a method of cutting the bones of the upper jaw and lower jaw, separating them into two, and then moving the bones of fit the normal occlusion and fixing them. It can improve functional problems such as difficulty in chewing or pronouncing food because the teeth do not engage due to protruding mouth, facial asymmetry, and protruding jaws, and there are also significant appearance changes in the center of the face and around the mouth.

If it is hard to understand the difference, just remember this. If you are worried about a bumpy face line and a flat face, you can consider facial contouring surgery, and if your face is out of balance, consider double jaw surgery. To compare it to a tree, cutting off the twigs of a tree is a facial contouring surgery, and straightening an inclined tree is a double-jaw surgery.

Double jaw surgery is often performed together with orthodontic treatment to improve functional problems more efficiently. This is especially effective the case with bimaxillary prognathism. The mouth can be looked protruding even when the teeth are inclined outward. If there is a slight protruding mouth symptom and the teeth are also protruding and the mouth is looked, orthodontic treatment is performed along with double jaw surgery.

The most important point in facial contouring is how much bone is removed. According to Dr. Jung Hwan Baek of H Plastic Surgery, there are cases where the face becomes smaller as much as the bone is removed, but in the case of a square jaw, there are various side effects that result in an awkward facial line. It is needed to decide how much bone is removed from your current face to reduce the contour of your face to what extent it fits you well.

Double jaw surgery fractures the jawbone artificially and carries risks because the operation is performed around nerves and blood vessels. Dr. Jung Han Baek recently wanted to undergo surgery for aesthetic purposes because the aesthetic part of double jaw surgery was emphasized. He emphasizes that it is necessary to consult with expert about whether or not double jaw surgery is necessary.

Dr. Baek advises that you should use common sense when you choose a clinic. Don’t go beyond common sense and fall for words that deceive patients. During the consultation, it is good to ask yourself, “Is it common to do that?

For both facial contouring surgery and double jaw surgery, it is better not to approach only the external improvement. The purpose of the surgery should be clarified through expert and the surgery should be performed safely without impairing the function.

When you choose a clinic, it is very risky to be drawn to the advertising reviews floating around online. Dr. Jung Hwan Baek said, “There are many patients who are confused because they are exposed to advertisements during the clinic selection process. The success of the surgery is not proportional to the size of the clinic or the age of the doctor. Dr. Jung Hwan Baek advises that you should use common sense when you choose a clinic. Don’t go beyond common sense and fall for words that deceive patients. During the consultation, it is good to ask yourself, “Is it common to do that?
