Another revolution of lifting HIFU device, ‘Linear Firm’ that shown LIFU technology

As the society is approaching aging society and along with the trend of ‘baby face’, consumer’s interest about lifting picks up in the market of medical aesthetic device. As a result, the field of lifting is advancing from the needs of various age groups. The representative concerns may be wrinkles and sagging as people age as well as fat in cheeks and chin, which can be easily seen in younger ages. While people were more concerned about pigmentation such as visible blemishes, skin disease, etc., people are more interested in lifting procedures in recent years as the interest about skin is increasing. In accordance with these trends, many medical device companies are scrambling to release lifting devices using various technologies. Many medical aesthetic devices manufacturers are releasing lifting devices, with various technologies and functions, led by radio frequency and ultrasound. Moreover, consumer’s concern about which device, among a range of devices, is effective and efficient to which part.  

A device utilizing HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) or MFU (Micro Focused Ultrasound) is the most popular lifting device to represent. ‘Ulthera’, ‘DOUBLO-GOLD’, ‘Shrink’, etc. are competing in the domestic market. In this HIFU market, ‘Linear Firm’ is the device with the application of the most recent technology, LIFU (Linear Focus Ultrasound).

Existing devices using HIFU and MFU are mostly employing dot type cartridge. Although dot type cartridge method can deliver strong energy, it also has a disadvantage that it offers narrow heating area. Linear type cartridge was made to irradiate energy as line by extremely reducing the gap between dots in order to overcome this disadvantage. ‘Linear Firm’, which can use not only linear type cartridge but also the conventional dot type cartridge’ is shortened procedure time from the wide heating area leading to be beneficial in pain management.

Dr. Seung Hee Lee, MD, of YLAS clinic, who are using various lifting devices, introduced ‘Linear Firm’ to her clinic based on positive usage experience of ‘Ultracel Q+’, a predecessor of ‘Linear Firm’. Lee evaluated ‘Linearfirm’ saying “It is efficient in energy loss between dots due to linear method unlike the existing dots method and the most appealing points of it is the faster speed”.

‘Linear Firm’ is composed of 7 linear type cartridges(2mm, 3mm, 4.5mm, 6mm, 9mm, 11mm, 13mm) that enables various depth treatment and 8 dot type cartridges (1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4.5mm, 6mm, 9mm, 11mm, 13mm). By select and use an appropriate cartridge depending on the procedural purposes including epidermis, dermis, SMAS layer, fat layer, etc., it can form coagulation and also, it only take 3 minutes to irradiate 300 shots with linear type cartridge.

Dr. Lee said, “She recommends ‘Linear Firm’ to patients whose elasticity in skin is loosen but don’t have very much fat and who have undergone lifting. It is more responded to those have experience with conventional lifting treatment than those who never had experience. This is because it is good for pain management due to short procedure time, and also, it shows prompt results. Moreover, by using ‘Linear Firm’ with ‘INMODE’, it can further maximize the effect of reducing fat and give skin elasticity and skin texture effects”.
